Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

ANAS Institute of Literature held presentation of “Azerbaijani-Uzbek, Uzbek-Azerbaijani Dictionary” book (in two languages).

Opening the event, ANAS vice-president, Director of the institute, academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that, friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries are successfully developing in the field of science and literature. The book was published by decision of the Academic Councils of the Institute of Literature, Institute of Linguistics after Nasimi and the Institute of Literature, Language and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

Then, the project manager and Director of the Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center in Uzbekistan Samir Abbasov said that, the new edition contains about 23,000 words and phrases. He presented an honorary diploma to Professor Ismail Mammadli, Doctor of Philology Almas Binnetova and Shohista Ortigova Kamranli, who contributed to the development of the dictionary.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Institute of Linguistics, academician Naghisoylu Mohsun, Doctor of Philology Almas Binnatova, Uzbek literary critic Babahan Mahammad Sharif, poetess Hasiet Rustam and historian – publicist Shuhrat Barlas spoke on the meaning of the dictionary.

In conclusion, Professor Ismail Mammadli delivered a report on “An Important Scientific Event in the History of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek Dictionary”.
