On November 29, Institute of Linguistics of ANAS named after Nasimi hosted for a a republican scientific conference on topic "The poetic language of Imadaddin Nasimi and historical problems of the Azerbaijani literary language", dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the great poet Imadaddin Nasimi.

Opening the event director of the institute academician Mohsun Naghisoylu said that the announcement of 2019 as the “Year of Nasimi” by order of President Ilham Aliyev is a sign of appreciation and respect for the work of the great thinker. He noted that a number of events were carried out in the republic and beyond its borders on the anniversary of the poet.

Giving information about the rich literary heritage of the great thinker and his position in Azerbaijani literature, director of the institute said that Nasimi was a lyrical poet who had a difficult career. He said that the great leader Heydar Aliyev took important steps to study and promote the heritage of Nasimi and perpetuate his memory. At the initiative of a nationwide leader, the 600th anniversary of a brilliant thinker was included in the UNESCO List of Anniversary Events and celebrated internationally in 1973. Since then, numerous studies of Nasimi’s work have been carried out.

Afterwards, academician-secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences Academician Teymur Karimli spoke about the ideas of the poet’s creativity and emphasized the importance of a wide study of the writer's heritage. He said that Imadaddin Nasimi showed great courage in a consistent, organized struggle for the purity, development and establishment of the Azerbaijani language on a national basis. Cultural diversity and humanistic ideas are widely promoted in the work of the great poet.

At the conference, lectures were presented on the following topics: “The phenomenon of Imadaddin Nasimi at the initial stage of the Azerbaijani written literary language”, “Nasimi Manuscripts in World Libraries”, “The Concept of the Word in Nasimi's Creativity”, “Some Features of the Poetic Style of the Nasimi Language”.
