Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

September 23, 2014 the Presidium of ANAS has held the first meeting of the commission set up to study the organization of the academy of genocide.

The event was opened by the President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh, who spoke about the tragic consequences of the policy of genocide against the Azerbaijani people.

Academician Akif Alizadeh said that as a result of the policy of genocide carried out by Armenians, historical Azerbaijani lands have been occupied, was carried out mass deportation of Azeri people from their native lands.

However, as a continuation of this policy, today, Armenia extending the information war and falsifying evidence is trying to prove a fictional Armenian genocide, thereby misleading the international community.

Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that in the information war by Azerbaijani scientists should be active aimed at protecting our state. He also brought to the fore the importance of writing popular scientific works, based on facts and historical documents, documentary film, as well as the preparation and publication of translated materials.

It was noted that the Commission will be considered in detail all historic times, in particular, the events unfolding in the Caucasus after the First World War.

Then, vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli gave detailed information about the directions of the Commission to be established to organize the research of genocide.

The meeting also made by members of the commission - Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, People's Artist Shafiga Mammadova, BSU Professor, Doctor of History, Anar Isgandarov, director of the Institute for Human Rights ANAS, PhD in Law Ayten Mustafayeva, director of Azerbaijan State Publishing House Azer Mustafa, Director of the Institute of History of ANAS Corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov, BSU Professor, doctor of Historical Sciences Musa Gasimli, director of the Institute of Philosophy and Law Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh. The speakers made suggestions and recommendations in relation to the work and activities of the Commission.

At the conclusion of the event committee chairman, academician Akif Alizadeh and Deputy Chairman of academician Isa Habibbayli expressed their attitude voiced proposals.

President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh gave guidance on the activities of the committee and noted the challenges ahead.
