Institute of Geography hosted the final event of the project of preparation for the international Olympiad

Institute of Geography named after academician Hasan Aliyev of ANAS with the support of the Azerbaijan Geographical Society, the closing ceremony of the project "Preparing Students for the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo)" was held, which won the 3rd grant competition for development in education and innovation.

During the event, the president of the AGS and the director of the scientific institution, academician Ramiz Mammadov, spoke about the importance of teaching the relevant subject, as well as the importance of disseminating geographical knowledge and information and the attention that the country's leadership pays to geographers.

Then the project manager Yashar Seydaliyev provided detailed information about iGeo and said that since 1996 the Olympiad has been functioning under the International Geographic Union, and this year the 17th iGeo Olympiad will be held in Istanbul.

Noting that Azerbaijani geographers have been cooperating with iGeo since 2015, Y. Seydaliyev said that the team is well prepared for the competition.

Dean of the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University (BSU), associate professor Shakar Mammadova, adviser to the Education Department of Baku Sakina Agalarova, geography teacher at BSU, PhD in Geography Narmina Seyfullayeva noted that they will underpin the preparation of students for the Olympiad.

Finally, the winners were awarded certificates based on the results of three exams conducted during the project.
