Institute of Geography named after acad. Hasan Aliyev of ANAS held a scientific - practical seminar dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Speaking at the event, director of a scientific institution, academician Ramiz Mammadov noted that an action plan has been prepared for the 75th anniversary of ANAS. He said that according to the plan, it is planned to prepare reports on the activities of the institute’s public organizations over the past 5 years, organize seminars on the research work of departments that have achieved significant results, and further publication of the Institute’s popular science journal “Geography and Natural Resources”.
Having informed about the Institute’s activity over the past 5 years, the director noted that the scientific institution had published the fundamental three-volume monograph “Geography of the Azerbaijan Republic”, the second volume of the two-volume “Geography of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” and the second volume of the three-volume “Geography and Ethnicity of the Turkic World”. It was noted that the institute’s staff were highly appreciated by the state - scientists were awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the head of the scientific institution was awarded the Order of Shohrat.
R.Mammadov noted that one of the important things was the creation of the Caspian scientific network, which brought together international experts on the Caspian Sea. Domestic scientists have developed a program for integrated development of the sea. Our geographers have made great strides in climate change, its impact on humans and the environment, landscape planning, the development of digital maps of national importance and much more.
The event was attended by the chairman of the Institute’s Trade Union, PhD in Geography Gabil Hagverdiyev, chairman of the Council of Women Luiza Salayeva, chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, PhD in Geography Samira Alakbarova, who presented reports on the activities of organizations over the past 5 years.
