An article by the deputy director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences Professor Najaf Museyibli, was published in the international journal with impact factor “Stratum plus. Archeology and Cultural Anthropology.”

An article entitled “Migrations from Asia Minor to the Caucasus during the Late Chalcolithic Period (first half of the 4th millennium BC)” refers to the resettlement of people at the last stage of the chalcolithic period from Eastern Anatolia-Northern Mesopotamia to the South Caucasus, especially to the territory of Azerbaijan, and the reasons for this process. It is noted that as a result of these migrations, the archaeological culture of Leyla-tepe arose in the South Caucasus. Based on undeniable archaeological facts, the article emphasizes that as a result of the relocation of some of the representatives of the aforementioned culture to the North Caucasus, a culture known in science under the name “Maykop Archaeological Culture” arose.

In the course of studying the cultural monuments of Leylatepe, it was revealed that during this period the territory of Azerbaijan was part of the distribution area of the most developed civilizations of Central Asia.
