The creation of an electronic library of manuscripts is underway

An online meeting of the Department of Electronic Resources of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS was held.

The meeting discussed the results of the department's activities for the first quarter of this year.

The head of the department Firangiz Huseynova said that in order to facilitate the use of manuscripts kept in the funds of the institute, ensure their protection, deliver them on to future generations, work was continued to create an electronic library.

Huseynova noted that 325 Turkish, Arabic and Persian manuscripts were digitized and included in the electronic library. "Currently, more than 4,600 book monuments are kept in the electronic library of manuscripts. They can be used by scientists and specialists conducting research at the scientific institution," she said.

The head of the department stressed that in accordance with the relevant orders of President Ilham Aliyev on the 120th anniversary of prominent representatives of Azerbaijani literature Jafar Jabbarli and Muhammad Hadi, the process of digitization of their personal archive materials was continued at the institute. According to him, the work on digitization of Jafar Jabbarli's personal archive, kept in 700 folders, began in 2019, and this year the electronic version of 75 documents was included in the database. At present, the database contains 658 documents.

The process of creating an electronic catalog of manuscripts is underway. 1,800 book monuments were included in the electronic catalog of "Turkic manuscripts". The database of the electronic catalog of "Miniature Manuscripts" protected in the funds of the institute has been created, 67 manuscripts have been included in the catalog, Huseynova noted.
