Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

An online meeting was held in accordance with the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Institute of Geography named after academician H.Aliyev of ANAS and Tabriz University of Iran.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the history of scientific institutions, latest achievements, promisings, as well as the adaptation of employees to the current situation during the quarantine regime announced in connection with the new coronavirus epidemic in the world.

Director of the Institute of Geography, academician Ramiz Mammadov informed about the priorities of the organization, including global climate change, water scarcity, organization and management of natural and economic systems in the area, environmental protection, ecology, landscape planning, application of GIS technologies, Caspian Sea research, etc. are the key research topics of the institute.

Then, Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Geography, PhD in Geography Associate Professor Maharram Hasanov spoke about research in the field of climate and agroclimate in Azerbaijan, the impact of climate change on agriculture.

Climate changes, geographic information systems, landscape planning, environmental protection, etc. issues have been extensively studied at Tabriz University; Iranian scholars noted their achievements in this field.

Academician R.Mammadov and the head of the Planning and Environment Department of Tabriz University, Professor Behruz Sari Sarraf noted that the joint online scientific seminar on a specific topic will be held in the coming days and will benefit in the development of relations.
