Genocides committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis discussed at international conference

Chief Specialist of the Department of Electronic Resources, Institute of Manuscripts Muhammad Fizuli of ANAS, doctoral student Vugar Hajiyev through the Zoom program participated in a conference held by the Atlas international journal indexed by social sciences in Batumi, Georgia.

At the conference, a young scientist delivered a lecture entitled “The policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide against Azerbaijanis - a way to implement the idea of “Greater Armenia ”. He said that throughout history, non-state Armenians lived as tribes within separate states and were finally resettled by tsarist Russia in the early XIX century to the South Caucasus, including the lands of historical Azerbaijan.

The speaker noted that at the beginning of the XX century, with the support of their patrons, the Armenians created a state on the lands of historical Azerbaijan and called these territories "ancient" and "Greater Armenia." V. Hajiyev brought to attention that in order to realize this idea, the Armenians pursued a policy of terror, genocide, ethnic cleansing and deportation against the local Turkic-Muslim population in 1905-1907, 1918-1920, 1948-1953 and 1988-1992.

The speech of the Azerbaijani scientist aroused great interest among the participants of the conference, V. Hajiyev responded questions of interest to them.
