Nakhchivan Division of ANAS held an online conference dedicated to May 28 - Republic Day

On the occasion of May 28 - Republic Day, the online conference "Azerbaijan People's Republic - 102" was held in the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS.

At the conference, the chairman of the department, academician Ismail Hajiyev spoke about the history of the creation of the first democratic republic in the entire Turkic-Muslim world, as well as throughout the East. He said that Azerbaijan People Republic established on May 28, 1918, fell as a result of external occupation and internal unrest. Despite this, during the 23 months of its existence, Azerbaijan People Republic carried out important events for our country and people.

It was noted that a number of issues related to Nakhchivan were in the focus of attention of the leadership of the Azerbaijan People Republic. So, the region was given political, military, material and moral support, which did not allow the Armenians to seize these territories.

The event also spoke about the modern development of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which was announced by the national leader Heydar Aliyev after his return to power as the successor of the People Republic. Facts were presented reflecting the measures taken by the great leader in the name of preserving our independence, and the successes achieved by independent Azerbaijan in the field of building a strong state.

At the online conference, the head of the Department of Ethnography of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of the Nakhchivan Division, PhD in History, Associate Professor Asaf Orujov delivered a lecture on "Azerbaijan People Republic: the first democratic republic in the East."
