Scientific Council of the Division of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences discussed a number of priority issues

On June 12, an online meeting of the Scientific Council of the Division of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences of ANAS (DPMTS) was held.

The event was attended by the vice-president of ANAS, chairman of the Scientific Council, academician Rasim Alguliyev, members of the council, heads of scientific institutions included in the division and relevant persons.

In advance, academician R. Alguliyev brought the issues on the agenda to the attention of the meeting participants.

According to the relevant decrees signed by President Ilham Aliyev, academician Fikret Aliyev was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Scientist" of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his services to the development of science in Azerbaijan, academician Yusif Mammadov - "Labor" Order of 2nd degree, academician Adil Garibov and corresponding member of ANAS Aydin Kazimzade was awarded the Order of “Shohrat”.

“The new quantum state of matter - antiferromagnetic topological insulator: design, basic electronic properties” co-authored by academician Nazim Mammadov, professor Imamaddin Amiraslanov, Dr. Associate Professor Nadir Abdullayev and Ziya Aliyev, was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of science by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated May 22, 2020.

The awarded members of the division expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev for their attention and care for Azerbaijani science and our scientists.

Then, academician R.Alguliyev provided detailed information about the tasks set by the General Meeting of ANAS held on June 10, 2020 before DPMTS.'

The event also addressed a number of scientific and organizational issues. Thus, the Action Plan on the implementation of the "Development Program of ANAS for 2020-2025", as well as proposals of DPMTS scientific institutions on the coronavirus pandemic and related problems were widely discussed, relevant decisions were made.

Reminding that numerous documents containing bilateral cooperation were signed during the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhammadov to our country in March this year, R. Alguliyev spoke about the memorandum of understanding between the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of ANAS and Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences.

Speaking on the issue, director of the ICS, academician Telman Aliyev said that on the basis of this document it is planned to implement a project entitled "Seismoacoustic nois monitoring of the earthquake and its warning zone." According to the project, several seismoacoustic stations should be

built in both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. In addition, the stations of both countries should have a monitoring center and a decision-making system,” he added.

Then, director of the Institute of Biophysics, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov gave detailed information about the program "Development of cell technologies". The Scientific Council of DPMTS has decided to submit a petition to the Presidium of ANAS on the program "Development of cell technologies".

According to the agreement signed with Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia, and taking into account the continuation of research by senior researcher of the Institute of Physics Faig Ahmadov and researcher Nurlan Abbasli, Presidium of ANAS has been solicited for by the members of the Scientific Council.
