Captive monuments of Khojaly

Captive monuments of Khojaly

During archeological excavations in the Gadabay, Khojaly and Gargar mountain ranges of Azerbaijan, a large number of material cultural monuments of the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages was discovered, and these monuments been generally called Khojaly-Gadabay culture. Numerous Neolithic settlements, copper smelting and weapon producing workshops, stone tombs, tools, and mounds discovered in the area where this culture spread. Interestingly, a variety of pottery and ornaments from the mound No. 11, along with these findings, the beads with cuneiform inscriptions on the name of the Assyrian king Adadnirari BC 1307-1275 found as well. This is a sign of the positive role of the Karabakh people, and especially of the Gargars living here, in the economic and cultural relations between the Eastern countries and, indirectly, in the development of the state of Manna, Media, Albania and Atropatena.
