Acad. Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh’s 110th anniversary

Main building of ANAS hosted for the conference “Great literary heritage and modernity” dedicated to 110th anniversary of prominent literary critic professor Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh.

In advance, conference attendees pilgrimaged scientists’ grave in the Alley of Honor and laid flowers on.

Opening the conference Isa Habibbayli, academician vice-president of ANAS director of the Institute of Literature highlighted the order of the President Ilham Aliyev “on holding acad. Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh’s 110th anniversary” dated April 15, 2014 as an obvious sample of the state care for development of science and national enlightening. New researches, published books and measures that are taken in the country in connection with the anniversary contribute to improvement of new offspring, he stated.

Academician Isa Habibbayli touched upon M. Arif Dadashzadeh’s works concerning to literary criticism with special esteem: “M. Arif Dadashzadeh’s critical criteria foremost, demonstrates integrity of his identity and scientific activity, as well as practical and theoretical cognition."

Being involved in artistic translation, Mammad Arif’s research object was to approach translation work in terms of national interests. “While translating world and Russian literature classics into Azerbaijani he has focused on delivery of great ideals, necessary socio-historical processes, and enlightenment ideas to the public. Two volumes of “War and Peace” epopee by Leo Tolstoy, one of the giants of Russian and world literature, is the peak of his translational performance.”

In the event academicians Vasim Mammadaliyev, Tofig Hajiyev, Dr. philology Shirindil Alishanli and others shared memories of Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh and glanced at various branches of scientist’s life way and creativity.

Later on, chief of Literary Criticism department of the Institute of Literature Dr. philology Vagif Yusifli delivered lecture on “Academician Mammad Arif and Azerbaijan literary criticism”, chief of Literature theory department prof. Tahira Mammad on “Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh’s literary theoretic outlooks”, PhD in philology Elnara Akimova on “Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh and world literature”.

Finally, prof. Zumrud Dadashzadeh and PhD in philology Agshin Dadashzadeh expressed their gratitude on behalf of family to the Mr. President and academy management for organization of event.
