Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A scientific session dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the great playwright, prose writer, publicist and theater organizer Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev was held at the National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS.

Opening the event, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, Doctor of Philology, Professor Khatira Bashirli made a report on "Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev and enlightening realist literature." She noted that Abdurrahim Bey became famous in the history of Azerbaijan in the XIX-XX centuries as a nationalist, political figure and master of the pen. She stressed that the prominent writer is one of the bright faces of drama and satirical prose and journalism in our chronicle.

Khatira Bashirli also noted that the exposition halls of the Nizami Museum dedicated to the Enlightenment and the Molla Nasreddin School have a special corner that introduces the multifaceted creative heritage and life of Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev.

The session continued with an exchange of views on the activities of A. Hagverdiyev, as well as the history of his personal belongings.
