ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature held event entitled “Historical trials of national mourning and patience day”

ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjaviheld scientific session entitled “Historical trials of national mourning and patience day” on January 16.

Rafael Huseynov, academician, director of the museum stated that, the event has been organized pursuant to “Action Plan on the hold of 25th anniversary of 20 January tragedy” approved by the Head of Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He glanced at bloody page of Azerbaijan history which has been shifted into National mourning day 25 years ago. But this heinous crime could not break the will of our people's struggle for independence, and declared country’s struggle for freedom to the whole world. Events of January 20 pave the way to the attainment of national freedom, in fact, laid the foundation of the Soviet Union's collapse, he stressed out.

After emerging of the events Azerbaijan TV and radio power had been blew up in order to make it impossible to access to the world and obtain information, noted R. Huseynov.

It was only after national leader’s return to the political power of Azerbaijan, 20 January, 1990 was given the political and legal assessment and remembered as Bloody January.

Reminding unequivocally estimating the January events in an international scope, academician also highlighted double standards against our country, great leader Heydar Aliyev’s opinion to the tragedy during the event, despite the difficulties and dangers his sharply condemn to the Soviet leaders who had committed this massacre.

Reporting in the event Doctors of philological sciences Khatira Bashirlii, Shafag Alibeyliiand others made speech on emerging reasons and bitter results of the tragedy. Noted that this event not alter freedom struggle of our people than slightly stepped up.
