Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

An online event on the occasion of March 8 - International Women's Day was organized by the Presidium of ANAS and the Women's Council of the Academy.

The event was opened by the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, who conveyed the congratulations of the president of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev to the women working at the Academy. Touching upon the topic of women in history and literature from the past to the present, the academician praised the role of women in the socio-political, cultural and economic life of Azerbaijan. He noted that the great victory of Azerbaijan in the Great Patriotic War, the people united in this victory around the far-sighted and wise policy of President Ilham Aliyev, is the upbringing of such mothers.

Academician Isa Habibbayli, who considers Azerbaijani women in East-West parallels, spoke about the role of women in building a modern society and the peculiarities of this activity against the background of Azerbaijan's growing prestige in the world. Touching upon the role of Azerbaijani women in public administration, the academician praised the activities of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva as a role model for women.

Then the vice-president of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova, academician Nargiz Akhundova, the chairman of the Free Trade Union of ANAS, professor Habil Gurbanov, the chairman of the Women's Council of ANAS, doctor of philosophical sciences, professor Rena Mirzazade and the director of the Institute of History of science, doctor of historical sciences Maryam Seyidbeyli spoke about our victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the important historical services of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev. In addition, the important speech of the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva at the event organized by ICESCO on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in February this year was recalled. They also spoke about various aspects of women's activities in the fight against COVID-19.

At the end of the event, about 100 female employees working in various structural units of the Academy were awarded the Honorary Decree of ANAS for their scientific and public activities.
