Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

International conference dedicated to the folklore issues and traditional culture of the Turkic peoples “Traditional culture of the peoples of Volga region” was held on February 11-12, 2015 in Tatarstan (Kazan Republic) of Russian Federation.

Event was organized on according to cooperation agreement concluded between Republican center of traditional culture development of Tatarstan Republic Ministry of Culture and ANAS Institute of Folklore.

The conference was opened by Rector of Kazan State University, member of Academy of Humanitarians, Russian Federation, Rivkat Rashidovich Yusupov, who noted the importance of the event.

Director of Republican traditional culture center Fanzila Govharova made the report devoted to the protection problem and perpetuating the values of traditional culture in the conditions of multiculturalism.

Deputy Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Guzel Nigmatullina emphasized the importance of protection the values of traditional culture and wished success to the conference work.

The conference program also includes the reports of director of Institute of Folklore Mukhtar Kazimoglu on “Truth and lies in folklore “, head department of the institute Agaverdi Khalil on “Oguz wedding: the epic tradition and modern life”, Seyfeddin Rzasoy on “History and current problems of mythological science of Azerbaijan”, Tahir Orujov on “Azerbaijani folklore and Azerbaijani literature of XX century” etc.

During the two-day conference were listened about 80 reports. Meanwhile, in the conference was organized the round tables embracing actual problems of folklore studies.

At the end of the conference A.Halil met with the director of the Institute of literature, language and art named after G.Ibragimov, Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, corresponding member of TAS Kim Minullin during which they discussed questions of further cooperation with the Institute of Folklore.
