Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On February 20, 2015 main building of ANAS held “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” embodied with saz and word“ dedicated to February 21 - International Mother Language Day by jointly organized Knowledge Foundation under the President of Azerbaijan Republic and ANAS institute of Linguistics.

Event was attended by prominent gorgudstudiers, turkicologists and researchers. The event was opened by the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, who reported that the 200 anniversary of recognition in the world of an ancient written monument of oral national literature of Azerbaijan, Oguz Turkic “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” dastan, translated into German for the first time by scientist-orientalist turkologist Friedrich von Dietz.

It was noted that, in connection with the 200th anniversary of involving “Tepegoz” boy to scientific research is going to carry out a number of actions in the country and abroad.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the President of the country Ilham Aliyev attaches great value to studying of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” monument : “Mister President is the supporter and the initiator of promotion, studying and inclusion of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” dastan in a treasury of world culture along with all cultural values of Azerbaijan. At the ceremony devoted to a monument “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” mister President named dastan the national property of the Azerbaijani people and he noted that, the ancient way of life, life and psychology of our people is reflected in a monument”.

Then chief sector of Knowledge Foundation under President of Azerbaijan Republic Haji Abdullah made a report on the importance of the actions which are carried out in connection with “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” dastan.

It was noted that, last month in Baku by participation of famous gorgudstudiers have passed the international colloquium entitled “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud and Friedrich von Ditz-200”.

At the event the director of Institute of Linguistics, academician Tofig Hajiyev made a report on “Kitabi-Dede Gorgoud": our language and thinking”, corresponding member of ANAS Zemfira Safarova on “Music world” Kitabi-Dede Gorgud”.

In the artistic part of the event Honored Artist AR Mehriban Zeki and soloist of Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Novruz Novruzlu were performed artistic compositions from “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” dastan.
