Institute of Information Technology and Institute of Linguistics held jointly seminar dedicated to the international native language

ANAS Institute of Information Technology (IIT) and Institute of linguistics hosted for joint seminar devoted to the International day of the native language.

At first, the guests familiarized with innovative conditions created at the institute and was given detailed information about the material-technical base.

Opening the event, academician-secretary of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev noted the importance of the event.

Stressing the great merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev in recognition of the Azerbaijani language at the state level, the scientist noted that the great leader always attached great value to development of the Azerbaijani language.

The scientist noted that originality preservation, development and increase of prestige of the native language are the basic principles of a state policy in the field of linguistics.

Having informed on the purposeful works which are carried out by the state in the field of preservation of Azerbaijani language, academician informed about the importance of the performed works in the direction of the solution the tasks stemming out the orders accepted with the purpose to improve works on application of native language.

Having noted that the most part of these tasks is connected with ICT, R. Alguliyev told that along with other organizations, Institute of Information Technology carries out certain works for development of Azerbaijani language.

He also noted importance of increase the quantity and quality of Internet resources in the Azerbaijani language for acceleration the process of integration of our country into global information space, and also promotion of science, culture, history and language of Azerbaijan in virtual space.

Then director of the Institute of Linguistics, academician Tofig Hajiyev, noted that the language as a national treasure of each state is one of the most important tools in preservation, development and promotion of the material and spiritual heritage.

Founded by UNESCO on February 21 - the International day of native language became the reason of increase the attention to the native language around the world.

According to him, International day of the native language is celebrated worldwide since 2000: “Celebration of this significant day carries the purpose of preservation of language and culture of the people. It is pleasant that Azerbaijanians of the whole world hold a number of events for this occasion in the countries lived by them”.

Then were listened the reports by chief department of Computer linguistics, Institute of linguistics, Dr.Philology Kamila Veliyeva on “Urgent issues of computer linguistics”, leading researcher of Institute of Linguistics, PhD in philology Rasim Heydarov on “Automatic recognition of dialects”, sector chief of ANAS Institute of Information Technology Afruz Gurbanova on “Formation and the directions of development of terminological informatics”, senior researcher, PhD in Philology Yedgar Jafarov on “Onomastic informatics: reality and prospects”, PhD student of the institute Sabina Mammadzadeh on “Transliteration: current state, problems and prospects”, PhD student of the institute Lyudmila Sukhostat on “Current state of speech technologies”.

In summary, discussion of reports were held in which acted the chief engineer of IIT, PhD in engineering Rashid Alekberov, Dr. Engineering Professor Masuma Mammadova, leading researcher of Monitoring department of the Institute of Linguistics Nazakat Gaziyeva, PhD student of the institute Seringul Ziyadova and others put forward their proposals and recommendations.
