Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On June 5, chief department of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archaeology, Nakhchivan Branch, corresponding member of ANAS Vali Bakhshaliyev is 60 years old.

V. Bakhshaliyev was born in Boyukduz village, Babek region, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on June 5, 1955. Graduated from Nakhchivan State Pedagogical Institute department of History in 1977, defended PhD thesis in 1986, doctoral thesis in 2005. Elected corresponding member of ANAS in 2007.

Beginning for labor activity in Garalar village secondary school in Imishli region since 1977, he worked junior and leading researcher at Nakhchivan Regional Scientific Center in 1986, scientific secretary of this venture in 1993, and scientific secretary of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archaeology, Nakhchivan Branch in 2003. Currently, employs chief of Ancient period archaeology department of the same institute.

V. Bakhshaliyev is the responsible secretary and editorial board member of “News of ANAS Nakhchivan Branch” (social sciences series), and “History, human and society” journal.

Scientist is the author of almost 300 works, including 30 monograph and book. “Archaeology of Azerbaijan”, “Archaeological monuments of Nakhchivan”, “Archaeology of Nakhchivan”, and “Ancient Ordubad” books met with favor by scientific community.

His 5 monographs and more than 45 articles have been published in the U.S., Turkey, Germany, Russia, Italy, Iran, including 18 papers on the journals with impact factor.

Scientist closely involved in exploration of ancient monuments in various regions. During his academic performance he participated in the investigation of Kultepe 1, Ovchulartepesi, Kultepe 2, Oglangala, Shahtakhti, Makhta Kultepesi, Chalkhangala, Gazanchigala and hundreds of monuments.

In 2014, awarded with “Tereggi” medal by President Ilham Aliyev.
