Azerbaijani scientists delivered lectures on multiculturalism in Berlin

Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany hosted for international conference entitled "Azerbaijan multiculturalism: historical experience and future model of society" co-organized by Baku International Multiculturalism Centre (BIMC), German-Azerbaijan Forum, Azerbaijani embassy to Germany and the Humboldt University of Berlin.

In the grandiose ceremony which took place at Brandenburg Academy of Sciences in Berlin, Kamal Abdullayev, academician, State adviser to the multinational, multicultural and religious affairs, BIMC Chairman of the Board of Trustees, delivered a lecture on “Multicultural safety and key principles”.

Academician noted that, Azerbaijan multiculturalism is a phenomenon about world multiculturalism models in which multicultural paradigm occupies key place. Multiculturalism safety paradigm attaches political importance against the background of the processes taking place in the world that it leads to democratization of international relations and strengthening integration processes interstates.

Chief of “Research of Persian manuscripts” department of the Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Mohsun Nagisoylu made a lecture on “Figurative sources of Azerbaijan multiculturalism” in the event as well. Lecture conducted brief analyze of multiculturalism values reflecting in the works by notable Azerbaijan literary representatives –Nizami Ganjavi, Imaddadin Nasimi, Muhammad Fuzuli, Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Huseyn Javid etc.

Professor of the Humboldt University of Berlin Eva-Maria Auch’s “Azerbaijan multiculturalism: historical experience and future model of society", executive director of BIMC Azad Mammadov’s “Establishment of Baku International Multiculturalism Centre as a result of real policy of Azerbaijan”, deputy chair of State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Seyavush Heydarov’s “Tolerance concept in multiculturalism for coexistence in peace: Azerbaijan model” lectures aroused interest on attendees.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov, head of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews Milikh Yevdayev, Baku and Caspian Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church, delegate of Orthodox religious organization Mifodiy Efendiyev and deputy chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, Fuad Nurullayev, German Foreign Ministry spokesman Cord Meier-Klodt, Germany-Azerbaijan Forum Chairman Hans-Eberhard Schleyer reported on the lectures.

Conference brought together scientific and political representatives of Germany, including mass media.
