Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics held the institutional seminar dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the outstanding scientist and mathematician, former director of the scientific institution, corresponding member of ANAS Ilham Mammadov on June 10.

At first, memory of the scientist was honored by minute of silence.

Opening the event, director of the institute, Professor Misir Mardanov talked about life, multifaceted scientific activities and merits of the outstanding scientist in the development of mathematics in Azerbaijan.

Noted that the life way of the talented scientist Ilham Mammadov who has created the harmony between theoretical researches and practical tasks, is an example for the younger generation.

Further the employee of Department of equations of mathematical physics of the institute, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Abdurrahim Guliyev submitted to attention of participants the report on "Life and scientific activity of the corresponding member of ANAS Ilham Mammadov".

In the report was noted that, Ilham Mammadov was born in 1955 in Baku. The scientist graduated from faculty of applied mathematics of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.

He was professor at chair of mathematical physics of faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics of Baku State University. At the same time the scientist was director of ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics.

It was noted that I. Mammadov has achieved significant results in the smoothness of the coefficients of quasi-linear parabolic equations of the second order and the quality of the theory of parabolic equations, etc.

Rector of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, corresponding member of ANAS Yusif Mammadov and others shared their memories about the scientist.

In conclusion, scientist’s wife Gamar Mammadova expressed the gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.

At the event also was organized the exhibition reflecting scientific activity of the outstanding scientist.
