Attendees of Journey Workshop held in Azerbaijan and Georgia visited ANAS Institute of Genetic Resources within the International Winter Wheat Improvement Program (IWWIP).
International workshop was co-organized by International Seminar of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Republic of Turkey Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry, International Wheat and Maize Improvement Center (CIMMYT), International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), AR Ministry of Agriculture Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture, and National Research center in Georgia.
Workshop was attended by 52 researchers of 11 countries (Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan etc.
In accordance with program of the journey workshop guests scientists attended the discussions carried out at IGR, got acquainted with scientific research works and field-experience fulfillments. Director of IGR, corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov greeted the guests and made presentation. He expressed his insurance on cooperation set up among IGR, CIMMYT and ICARDA.
Director of IWWIP, prof. Aleksey Margunov thanked to corresponding member Zeynal Akperov on behalf of attendees and expressed his gratitude on joint collaboration. Currently, pursuant to agreement among aforementioned parties, 6 individuals carry out research work on wheat crop met with international standards and by means of modern methods, he noted.
IGR's deputy director for scientific affairs and professor of biological sciences Naib Aminov and Mehraj Abbasov, head of the Department of cereals and legumes, PhD in biology Khanbala Rustamov, head of the Department of Technology, PhD in biology Hamlet Sadigov including, PhD students jointly working via ICARDA and CIMMYT provided extend information on experiences held in Absheron to the guests and responded questions.
