“Science is truth” documentary dealing with celebrate Azerbaijani scientist, social-political figure, notable representative of biology and agrarian sciences, Honored scientist with “Sharaf” order, active member of ANAS, acad. Jalal Aliyev’s life and activity was presented at “Kempinski Badamdar” hotel on July 1.

Film shot on the proceedings of “Jalal Aliyev. Photosynthesis Research for Sustainability – 2013” international conference which devoted to academician Jalal Aliyev’s 85th anniversary, was attended by governmental delegates, MPs, and celebrate scientists.

Opening the event director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, scientist’s follower, acad. Irada Huseyova made speech on honorable life way and rich scientific creativity of Jalal Aliyev. A unique achievement in the field of academic study of photosynthesis were highly appreciated by the world scientific community. Noted that, significant part of scientist’s success focused on the development of grain production in the country. Academician Jalal Aliyev has been conducting scientific researches since 1951 up today at Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture Plant Physiology and in parallel since 1971 at the Institute of Botany Department of Molecular-genetic bases of productivity processes.

Noting the successful application of academician’s scientific results in the field of photosynthesis in a number of countries in the world, I.Huseynova reported that in order to concentrate on the desired direction, scientist carried out genetic selection works by finding the secrets of wheat photosynthesis since the 70s of the last century. Expanding research in the field of physical-chemical biology, in particular in biochemistry and biophysics, Jalal Aliyev, laid the foundation for significantly improved new areas of research in the country - molecular biology, molecular genetics, gene and cell biotechnology, bioinformatics and mathematical biology. Under his molecular studies, genomic library of wheat was created, as a result of gene transfer through synthesized plasmids, plant regenerates wearing a resistance gene have been extracted. On this basis, using the possibilities of genetic engineering has developed a scheme micropropagation of crops.

It was noted that on the initiative of academician Jalal Aliyev had been prepared more than 300 scientific staff that 85 PhDs and 11 doctors of science had trained directly under his supervision. Obtained research outputs were reflected in prestigious international journals. A prominent scientist is the author of over 600 scientific publications, including 25 monographs and books published in the country and abroad.

The next speaker was the director of the film devoted to academician Jalal Aliyev, Honored Artist Jahangir Zeynalli, who expressed gratitude to the Minister of Communications and High Technologies, academician Ali Abbasov, for their support. He noted that in the film sounded valuable thoughts of famous scientists of the country, and students of Jalal Aliyev, who work in the leading scientific centers of the world. Some pictures from this screen work, prepared on the basis of an international conference devoted to the 85th anniversary of the scientist, were filmed in Australia, England, the Republic of Korea and the United States.

Then, a film was demonstrated. Jalal Aliyev’s inexhaustible energy, his valuable scientific heritage and invaluable contribution to biological science were focused on.

After the presentation of the film which caused great interest, President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh shared his thoughts on a prominent scientist Jalal Aliyev and talked about high human qualities of the outstanding scientist.

Notifying about 70th anniversary celebration of ANAS in November of current year, A.Alizadeh said that, achievements of Academician J.Aliyev is undeniable in praising Academy of Sciences as a temple of science. He is one of the scientists who laid the foundations of fundamental scientific school. Jalal Aliyev has prepared scientific staff who are engaged in research activities today in the leading scientific centers and universities, both Azerbaijan and other CIS countries, USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel, and others, he added.

Even during the Soviet era Jalal Aliyev was taking an active part in prestigious international events, and applied the latest scientific achievements in his studies. As a result of active work of the famous scientist, our country had achieved great successes in the field of photosynthesis.

AAkif Alizadeh noted that, conference which was held on June 5-9, 2013 in Baku on the initiative of the International Society of Photosynthesis Research was the first conference at the international level that devoted to Azerbaijani scholar, academician Jalal Aliyev’s 85th anniversary.

Further, Minister of Communications and High Technologies, academician Ali Abbasov spoke about the done works of Jalal Aliyev towards the recognition of domestic science in the world. He is one of the lucky scientists who were able to pass his wealth of experience and deep knowledge to the future generations, he stated.

It was also noted that the Jalal Aliyev’s 65-year period of scientific activity has been devoted to the study of agricultural plants, as well as the theoretical foundations of photosynthetic productivity of wheat. By his consistent and purposeful activity, Jalal Aliyev undertook a comprehensive study of photosynthesis, which is the basis of productivity. The main factor of the scientific achievements of scientist in various areas of his multifaceted work is his rare talent and a high degree of diligence.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony Chancellor of the Azerbaijan Medical University, academician-secretary of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Elders Council, MP Fattah Heydarov, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy Eldar Ibrahimov, Jalal Aliyev’s student, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, corresponding member of ANAS Novruz Guliyev told about the tireless work of the scientist for development of Azerbaijan science.

During the event, director of the Institute of Botany, corresponding member of ANAS Valida Alizadeh introduced to the scientific community the book dubbed "Genetic diversity of phytoplasmas distributed in Azerbaijan" edited under her own written, and spoke about the scientific value of the new edition dedicated to Academician.

Summarizing the event, academician Akif Alizadeh noted that the 90-year anniversary of outstanding scientist, academician Jalal Aliyev will be celebrated even more ambitious.
