Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Today, at the main building of ANAS was held the ceremony of farewell with the famous Azerbaijan scientist, Turcologist-linguist, winner of the Order “Shohrat”, member of the Azerbaijan Writers Union, active member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, State Prize laureate, Honored Scientist Akhundov Aghamusa Agasi oglu.

The ceremony was attended by officials of state and government, MPs, scientists and artists, intellectuals and the public.

To a coffin of the late were laid wreathes on behalf of the government organizations and various collectives.

Mourning rally was opened by President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh, who spoke about the fruitful scientific activity and the contribution of scientists to the development of linguistic science in our country.

It was noted that, in the person of the academician A. Akhundov the Azerbaijani scientific community suffered a big loss. The author of the first scientific work devoted to system of phonemes of the Azerbaijani language of Aghamusa Akhundov was widely glorified by basic researches in the field of linguistics.

His works devoted to grammar, theoretical linguistics, phonetics, etymology, history of language, dialectology, stylistics and the standard of speech in which the most actual scientific problems found the reflection, were highly appreciated by scientific community of the country.

The rich scientific heritage of prominent figures of science, true intellectual and sympathetic person, will live forever, and serve our people.

Then, Vice-president of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Academician-secretary of Department of Humanitarian Sciences, Academician Teymur Kerimli, Academician Abel Maharramov, Vasim Mammadaliyev made a speech at the farewell ceremony and spoke about rich scientific work of the scientist, his merits in the development of the domestic linguistic science, expressed deep condolences to the family of the late.

Speaking on behalf of the family of the late State Advisor on International Affairs, multiculturalism and religion of Azerbaijan, Academician Kamal Abdullayev expressed his deep appreciation for the respect and reverence to the memory of the scientist.

The bright memory of the famous scientist and responsive person Agamusa Akhundov will always live in the hearts who knew him.
