Well-known scientist in the field of oil and gas geology geochemistry, fluid dynamics, Head of the Department of Sedimentary Basins of the Institute Geology and Geophysics, corresponding member of ANAS Akbar Feyzullayev will celebrate the 70th anniversary on November 2.

Akbar Feyzullayev was born in Baku on November 2, 1945.

In 1970 graduated from geological exploration faculty of the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute (present the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University).

From 1973 to the present day A.Feyzullaev continues his activities in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS. Currently, he is a head of the Division of Fluid Dynamics of Sedimentary Basins.

In 1983 scientist has received a scientific PhD degree in the field of Geology and mineralogy, in 1992, Doctor of Science, and in 2006 academic rank of Professor. In 2007 A.Feyzullayev was elected corresponding member of ANAS.

A. Feyzullayev jointly with Azerbaijan and foreign colleagues solved a number of fundamental problems using most modern geochemical methods for research of sedimentary rocks and hydrocarbon fluids and basin modeling. These researches allowed revealing main peculiarities of Petroleum systems and Mud volcanism in South Caspian Basin carry out their comparison with other basins. In recent years, A.Feyzullayev has been studying the radon risk and he is the main executor of the State Action Plan (2014-2018).

Along with research activities A.Feyzullayev known as a educator. He is a professor of the department "Geology and exploration of oil and gas" of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry.

He is a chairman of the Dissertation Council of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Deputy Academician-Secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences, a member of the Division Bureau, also a member of the editorial boards of the journals "News" (a series of Earth Sciences), "Sedimentology and stratigraphy of oil and gas basins", "Geophysical innovation Azerbaijan" ANAS, international organizations AAPG and EAGE.

For achievements in scientific and educational field geologist has been awarded by diploma of ANAS Presidium and Department of Earth Sciences (2005), by the medal "Tereggi" (2008).

In 2010, for a series of works (with a group of scientists), undertaken to study mud volcanism and petroleum of the South Caspian Basin, he was awarded the State Prize of the first independent Republic of Azerbaijan.

Heartily congratulate well-known scientist with the 80th anniversary, wish him long life, robust health and great achievements in the development of Azerbaijan science.
