Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Event on theme “Nadir shah Afshar” co-organized by Modern Educational Complex named after Heydar Aliyev and ANAS Institute of History within “Let’s posses our historical figures” was held.

Project manager – Director of the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov spoke about statehood history, historical figures and emperies existed in history. 

“Azerbaijan is one of the ancient peoples of the world and approximately posses 5 thousand years of statehood history. Our people established great states of medieval ages – emperies of Aggoyunlu, The Safavids, The Afshars, and The Gajars”, noted Y. Mahmudov.

Making speech on Nadir Shah Afshar's life, activities, and diplomatic heritage Y.Mahmudov highlighted him as a ruler, who ensured the integrity of the territory of Azerbaijan and expanded its boundaries, also had constantly fought against the forces trying to reduce sectarian differences.

Chairman of organizing committee of the project Araz Shamil, historian-scientists Tofig Mustafazadeh, Jamal Mustafayev, Mehman Suleymanov, Guntekin Najafli, director of the Modern Educational Complex named after Heydar Aliyev Nasim Abishov and history teacher of the complex Leyla Huseynova reported in the event.

In closing, play dubbed “Shetrenj”, devoted to Nadir shah, was staged by participation of the students of Modern Educational Complex named after Heydar Aliyev.
