A conference on “Green Energy and the Philosophy of Ecological Problems” was held at ANAS

On September 25, a republican scientific conference on “Green Energy and the Philosophy of Ecological Problems” was held at ANAS with the organization of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

The event was attended by the president of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, active member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, first vice-president of the Noosphere Public Academy of Sciences Heydar Imanov as well as staff members of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology. 

In his opening speech at the conference, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the event was organized as part of the Action Plan of ANAS based on the order of the President Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2024 the “Green World Solidarity Year” in Azerbaijan. He noted that today's event also provides a broad platform for our scientists to present their views and concepts ahead of the COP29 to be held in Baku.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that several significant events have been held at the National Academy of Sciences dedicated to the “Green World Solidarity Year” and COP29. These include: the conference jointly organized by ANAS, the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Physiology of the Ministry of Science and Education on “Green Growth and Sustainable Development”; the event jointly organized by the Presidium of ANAS and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education on “Protect Our Green World”; the conference jointly organized by the Women’s Council of ANAS and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies on “Our Green World in the Light of Science”; and a scientific conference recently held with the joint organization of the Division of Chemical Sciences of ANAS and the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry (ICIC) under the Ministry of Science and Education dedicated to the “Green World Solidarity Year”.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli also noted that in October, another conference dedicated to the “Green World Solidarity Year” will be held with the joint organization of the Departments of Humanities and Social Sciences as part of the Action Plan of ANAS. In addition to the conferences at ANAS, the Academician said that books and articles dedicated to the “Green World Solidarity Year” and COP29 have been published. Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that essential steps are being taken at the Academy toward the transformation of research on artificial intelligence, digital development, and “green technologies” which are currently in the spotlight of global attention, into the humanities and social sciences. The president of ANAS said that the perspectives of philosopher-scientists on these spheres are extremely valuable and will significantly contribute to the proper application of these areas.

At the end of his speech, Academician Isa Habibbeyli stressed that important steps are being taken at ANAS in line with the calls of the head of state and the challenges of the modern period and our scientists are contributing to the development of our country and global science with their scientific perspectives.

The director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Doctor of philosophy, Professor Ilham Mammadzade said that the use of “green energy” helps to combat climate change and prevent global warming. He mentioned that in Azerbaijan, which is one of the world's main energy exporters, significant attention is being given to the “green energy” factor and mentioned that the development of the “green energy” industry creates new job opportunities, which is one of the essential factors for sustainable development.

Following this, the scientists delivered reports at the scientific conference regarding “Green Energy”, Ecological Problems, AI, and Climate Change.
