The 8th International Symposium on Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion is held

The 8th International Symposium on Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion has commenced, with the joint organization of the Division of Chemical Sciences of ANAS and Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education. 

Opening the event, the chairman of the Scientific Council of the Division, the general director of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, Academician Dilgam Taghiyev, said that holding the international symposium in Baku this year carries a symbolic character. The Academician spoke about 2024-“Green World Solidary Year” in Azerbaijan and the prestigious COP29 event to be held in our country.

President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli highlighted the rapid increase in the use of renewable energy sources (wind and solar) in Azerbaijan. The Academician said that new concepts such as green energy, green economy, green chemistry and green projects have emerged in various fields of science and new directions appeared.

The head of ANAS emphasized that a series of events have been organized in the Academy within the “Green World Solidary Year” and COP29, where discussions were held and our scientists and intellectuals have actively participated in the solution of the actual scientific problems.

At the event, Professor Tayfur Öztürk from the Middle East Technical University noted the scientific significance of the international symposium in terms of expanding relations and facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences on matters of common interest.

Academician Arif Hashimov, the academic secretary of ANAS and director general of the Institute of Physics gave information on the current state of renewable energy source usage, possible problems and expectations. He emphasized that significant works are implemented in Azerbaijan regarding renewable energy sources and expressed confidence that the scientific symposium will contribute to the economy of Azerbaijan.

The event continued with plenary sessions.

The international symposium will conclude on October 10.
