On October 10, the staff of the Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS named after Academician Ziya Bunyadov visited the grave of distinguished scholar and orientalist, doctor of philological sciences, Professor Aida Imanguliyeva on the occasion of her 85th birthday, paying deep respect to her memory and placing a wreath on her grave.
The acting vice-president of ANAS and director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva said that Aida Imanguliyeva made great contributions to the field of oriental studies and as the first female doctor of philological sciences in Arabic studies in Azerbaijan she played a major role in the development of this field.
Academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva noted that Aida Imanguliyeva, whose name is mentioned alongside world-renowned orientalists, was the first Azerbaijani scholar to systematically study the literary interactions and influences between the East and the West in Azerbaijan. She emphasized that the works of Aida Imanguliyeva are continually read, analyzed, researched, translated and reissued.
The Academician noted that the early passing of the prominent scholar deeply saddened her colleagues and students, stating that cherished memory of Aida Imanguliyeva will live on forever in their hearts.
Zarifa Guliyeva, a member of the Board of the Women's Council of ANAS who participated in the memorial ceremony, said that Aida Imanguliyeva opened a new chapter in the study of modern Arabic literature and laid a foundation for Arabic studies in Azerbaijan.
