A number of significant matters were discussed at the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Literature

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Literature of ANAS named after Nizami Ganjavi was held on November 7.

The meeting was attended by the members of the Council, Head of E-Academy Department of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Mathematics, docent, Fariz Imranov, Head of the Document and Protocol Department, PhD in Philology, Esmer Aliyeva, employees of the institution, and relevant individuals.

The President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the meeting of the Scientific Council and brought the issues on the agenda to attention. He congratulated the scientists celebrating their jubilees and highly appreciated their works. PhD in Philology, docent Leyli Aliyeva was awarded an Honorary Diploma on the occasion of her 75th anniversary, and PhD in Philology, docent Aslan Salmanov was also honored with the Honorary Diploma for his 70th anniversary.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the historic Victory achieved by the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev, during the 44-day Patriotic War. He emphasized that the Victory is an obvious expression of the strength of our army and the unity and solidarity of our people. He noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, our state is experiencing its most glorious days of history and a new period of development and revival. He also said that the restoration of our territorial integrity and the full assurance of our state sovereignty are exceptional services of our head of state for our people and independent state.

The head of ANAS congratulated the members of the Council on the fourth anniversary of the glorious Victory in the Patriotic War and the State Flag Day.

The Academician also regarded the hosting of COP29 in Azerbaijan, one of the largest global events on climate change, as a historic event. He mentioned that organizing such an important event in Baku is a clear example of our country’s growing international reputation.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned that extensive discussions on scientific issues would be held within the framework of COP29, and that ANAS would highly be represented at the conference. A number of meetings would be organized at the Academy with foreign scientists and members of the scientific organizations coming to our country within the event. He expressed confidence that COP29 would bring even greater prestige to Azerbaijan.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli provided information about the international organizations that ANAS has become a member of in recent years. The Academy has been selected as a member of the International Scientific Council, the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA), the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), and the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) in 2023-2024. The President of ANAS also provided information about his participation in the meeting of the General Assembly of AASSA, held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. He noted that during the General Assembly, an international scientific conference titled “Digital Transformations and Perspectives in Science” was organized, and elections for the leadership of AASSA for 2027-2030 were held. He added that during the visit, he met with the presidents of the Academies of Science and Technology of the Philippine and New Zealand to discuss mutual cooperation issues.  

The head of ANAS emphasized that the development of electronic science is one of the key directions of the complex reforms carried out at the Academy. He pointed out that the formation of electronic state, digital transformations, and the implementation of new management technologies and systems, which are important directions of the state policy implemented by President Ilham Aliyev in our country, have made it essential for ANAS to carry out comprehensive measures in this area.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli provided information about the implementation of the Centralized Electronic Document Circulation System at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature. Following the President’s decree on “Electronic Exchange of Documents between State Bodies (Institutions)”, the administration of the Presidium of ANAS joined the unified Electronic Document Circulation System, and works in this direction are continued in other institutions of the Academy. The Academician highlighted the necessity of digitizing scientific library and archive of ANAS, noting that electronic profiles have been created for 1,700 scientific workers of the Academy and that 17 scientific journals have been included in the electronic document database.

Later, Head of the Document and Protocol Department of the Presidium of ANAS, Ph.D. in Philology, Esmer Aliyeva provided information about the use of the electronic document exchange system in the Academy’s scientific institutions. She noted that, according to the Presidential Decree, necessary measures have been implemented in the administration of the Presidium of ANAS, its scientific institutions and organizations, regional divisions, and scientific centers to ensure the secure exchange of documents. Trainings on the use of the Electronic Document Circulation system were organized for ANAS employees by “ASAN Service”.

After that, a report titled “The Homeland-Nature Tandem in Azerbaijani Literature” was delivered by Ph.D. in Philology, docent Aygun Baghırlı, the scientific secretary of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, within the “Green World Solidarity Year”.

The Head of the Department of Azerbaijani-Asian Literary Relations of the Institute, Professor Badirkhan Ahmadli also delivered a report titled “The creativity of the winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature, South Korean writer Han Kang”.

Afterwards, the issues related to the preparation of the volume “Chinghiz Aitmatov and Azerbaijan” of the “Chinghiz Aitmatov Encyclopedia” and the preparation of the annual scientific report of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi for 2024 were also discussed at the meeting.

It was decided to submit for publication the monographs “Literary Studies in Nakhchivan: Stages and Directions” by Professor Tahira Mammad, Head of the Department of Literary Theory of the Institute, and “Azerbaijani Postmodernist Literature” by Elnara Garagozova, PhD in Phylology, docent and leading scientific worker of the Department of Literary Criticism.
