Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On March 7, was held scientific session devoted to 90th anniversary of notable orientalist-scientist corresponding member of ANAS Boyukagha Huseynov organized by Institute of Oriental Studies.

In advance, in the foyer of the main building of ANAS was demonstrated an exhibition composed of notable scientist’s works.

Opening the event, director of the Institute, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva spoke about great achievements of domestic scientists in the field of oriental study.

B.Huseynov is the author of topical-theoretical studies to the Iran literature of end of XIX century –early of XX century. He always represented Azerbaijan oriental study science in foreign countries at the highest level. Mainly devoting his scientific activity to the trends of Iran poetry, scientist’s works have been published in Iran, Turkey, Russia and other countries, along with Azerbaijan. In addition to scientific research scientist was engaged in literary, social-pedagogical activity, lectured at various universities in Iran. Boyukagha Huseynov was in charge at the Department of Iranian Philology of the Institute of Oriental Studies to the end of his life, was noted.

Then, chief of Department Iranian Philology of the institute PhD in philology Masiagha Muhammadi delivered a lecture on “Boyukagha Huseynov’s life and scientific-social activity”. Lecture conducted scientist’s life, scientific creativity and social activity.

Event was attended by Academicians Vasim Mammadaliyev, Rafael Huseynov, Dr. Art of study Kubra Aliyeva, PhD in History Solmaz Rustamova-Tohidi, Dr. Philology Shafag Alibeyli and others who made speech on B.Huseynov’s merits in development of oriental science study and shared memories about scientist.

Reporting on behalf of the family scientist’s son Asgar Huseynov thanked to event organizers and attendees for attention.

In closing, documentary dealing with scientist’s life and scientific activity was displayed.
