March 11, Institute of History named after A. Bakikhanov of ANAS and Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography named after Peter the Great (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) signed a cooperation agreement.
The document was signed by the director of the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov and director of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography named after Peter the Great, Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences Yuri Chistov.
Speaking at the ceremony, Y.Mahmudov spoke about international scientific relations of the Institute of History. It was noted that this scientific institution cooperates with the Russian archives. As part of the activities of Department of the Azerbaijani-Russian relations have been signed cooperation agreements with research centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and other cities of the North Caucasus regions of the Russian Federation.
The agreement signed between the Institute of History and Kunstkamera aims at further development of cooperation between the academic institutions. This cooperation is an important part of relations between the two countries and strengthens the friendly relations between our peoples. In December last year, scientists of Azerbaijan Sevinj Aliyeva, Firdovsiyya Ahmadova, Farah Huseyn carried out a study in the Kunstkamera and found materials related to the history and culture of Azerbaijan in the collections of the museum.
Emphasizing that the cooperation will be fruitful for both sides, Y.Chistov said that since the beginning of the XVIII century Kunstkamera is considered a symbol of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Is the country's first museum Kunstkamera, located in St. Petersburg, founded by Peter I.
Other speakers also talked about the importance of scientific cooperation between the two structures, they stressed the importance of further developing links with the Kunstkamera.
