At the General Meeting of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences held a ceremony of awarding the "Golden Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan named after Nizami Ganjavi".
With this highest award was awarded the Azerbaijani world renowned scientist Lutfi Zadeh (Lutfi Rahim oglu Alaskarzadeh) for exceptional achievements in the creation and development of the theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic and Academician Boyukkishi Agha oglu Aghayev - for merits in development of medical science in Azerbaijan, achievements in the field of improvement and implementation of reconstruction and recovery of operations in the treatment of liver disease, biliary tract and pancreas, as well as services in the preparation of the three-volume "Atlas of surgery."
At the meeting was noted that, the decision on this was taken at the last meeting of the Presidium of ANAS.
The decision reflected issues such as announcement of the results of the competition for the "Gold Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan named after Nizami Ganjavi", awarding with a medal the aforementioned scientists and delivery them cash prize in the amount of 10 thousand manats.
At the event was noted that, the right of awarding with the medal was given to the above-mentioned Decree of the President of the Academy dated June 27, 2014.
It has been underlined that, ideas of scientists whose candidate has been proposed for participation at a competition, and the relevant documents have been submitted by Expert Committee.
At the final meeting of commission were elected nominates for the gold medal and then appropriate responses were submitted to the Presidium.
