Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On May 19, Department of Biology and Medical Sciences held bureau assembly at the Presidium of ANAS.

In addition to bureau members, event brought together the employees of the Institute of Veterinary of AR Ministry of Agriculture and the Medical Prophylactic Institute under AR Ministry of Health.

In advance, Academician-Secretary of the Department Academician Ahliman Amirlaslanov informed on the issues of agenda.

Later on, lab chief of the Institute of Polymer Materials of ANAS, Dr. Chemistry Niyazi Rasulzadeh submitted a lecture on “Production of veterinary vaccines, biological and biotechnological products in Azerbaijan” and noted about taken measures in modernization and improvement of veterinary service in latest years. Being a strategic area of agriculture, livestock sector plays an important role in increasing food production of the country. Some of the problems interfere with development of these areas, particularly in the fight against infectious diseases, thus, existing structures of the veterinary service aims to provide disease detection in time, and application of vaccines and biological substances, he noted.

Then, corresponding member Amin Ismayilov made speech in regard of publication “Azerbaijan State Land Map” (1: 100000). He said that developed under guidance of corresponding member Mammadamin Salayev at the Institute of Soil Science of ANAS, this map has not been published yet, and is in the state of manuscript. Brining to mind repeatedly discussions on the preparation of the map, A.Ismayilov put to the fore the necessity of publication of the “Azerbaijan State Land Map” (1:100000) relied on rich data, large-scale, impressive and modern technology.

At the meeting were also scheduled elections to the director post at the Institutes of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Genetic Resources, Soil Elm and Agro chemistry. Head of Law and Human Resources Department of ANAS Presidium Administration Rasim Aghasiyev informed about the procedure for elections of director. He stated that, elections are carried out in accordance with Charter of ANAS through voting.

Event discussed the issues of celebrating Academician Adila Namazova’s 90th, corresponding members Rafig Gasimov’s 85th, Magsud Gurbanov’s 75th anniversaries, making structural changes to the Academic Councils of the Institutes of Physiology and Zoology, including publishing “Bibliographic index” concerning to Prof. Pasha Zamanov’s 90th anniversary.

In closing, staff problems were issued.
