Tradition of creating works of art carving techniques, turning and scratching historically exists in Azerbaijan.

Most figures, paintings created by these methods our ancestors reflect a variety of traditions and customs. And the history of woodcarving has been laid in the recent past.

At the meeting of the Academician Council of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS held the 80th anniversary of the employee of this scientific institution, renowned calligrapher, master of woodcarving Sayfaddin Masimoglu on 23 May.

At the event, Academic-Secretary of Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, director of the institute, Academician Teymur Karimli congratulated S.Masimoglu with the anniversary and gave information about the history of the art of wood carving, its features and the works of famous calligrapher.

Then, Deputy Director for Research of the institution, Dr. Philology Pasha Karimov told about the life, works and fruitful activity in the institute Sayfaddin Masimoglu.

At event S.Masimoglu was awarded the Honorary Diploma of ANAS Institute of Manuscripts in connection with the 80th anniversary.

The participants were also familiarized with the exhibition of works of applied prominent calligrapher.

Note that, the exhibition will be demonstrating for a month at the Institute of Manuscripts.
