Head of the department of fundamental problems of biological productivity of the Institute of Botany of ANAS, academician Jalal Aliyevwas elected a member of the editorial board of the journal, published in Australia “Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.” In the message directed in this regard by the editor-in-chief of the magazine by Zhade McGill, it is noted that activity of the world famous scientist becomes big support for further development of this sphere. The academician Jalal Aliyev still in the seventies started involving the last century to the solution of biological problems along with biologists, also experts from mathematical and computer scientific spheres. In Azerbaijan the foundation for development of the new directions on research, and also mathematical and computer biology and bioinformatics was laid. The academician Jalal Aliyev was one of the first initiators in the world of integrative methods in biology. The Azerbaijan scientists specializing in this direction make now great progress in our country and beyond its limits – in Great Britain, the USA, Japan, Pakistan, Oman, Turkey and other countries, represent Azerbaijan at high level. As result of this progress in 2008 in Baku was held the international conference “Bioinformatics: current state and prospects”, devoted to 80-year anniversary of the academician Jalal Aliyev.©All rights are reserved.
