Local Twinning Advisor of the EU twining project "Support to Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Policy in modernization of policy and management system of culture sector” Alessandro Bianchi held a meeting at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS.

Making speech on importance of the project A.Bianchi stated that key goal of the project is to contribute for modernization of legal base and management of culture sector of Azerbaijan.

Then, director of the institute Dr. History Prof. Maisa Rahimova said that instituted led by her is in close collaboration to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and related governmental bodies due to registering exploring and protecting historical monuments. She specially noted deliberately ruining of historical monuments in the occupied Azerbaijan lands.

M.Rahimova also touched upon the issue of representation in UNESCO a number of historical monuments and samples of Azerbaijan Intangible Cultural Heritage. She also expressed confidence that the cooperation with Azerbaijan, which has a rich culture, is successful.

The meeting focused on the activities and objectives of the government agencies in the protection of historical monuments Azerbaijan, as well as mutual cooperation.

Deputy Director of the Institute for Science, PhD in the history Najaf Museyibli informed about defining the legal status of the legal basis of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography to determine the research and conservation of historical monuments.

Sector Chief "Archaeological research in the areas of new buildings" of the institute, PhD in History Goshgar Goshgarli said that the successful implementation of the new project will assist for the cultural sector management, protection of cultural heritage, as well as development of international best practices in Azerbaijan.

In conclusion, A.Bianchi noted the importance of continued cooperation with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography under the project.
