Electronic assembly hall of ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami hosted presentation of the book "Life, creativity and destiny of a scientist", published on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the famous Azerbaijani archaeologist, ethnographer Alaskar Alakbarov on June 24.

The presentation was attended by employees, Department heads of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of ANAS and other institutions, as well as co-director of the Azerbaijan-Germany International Archaeological Expedition, the German archaeologist, Dr. Barbara Hellwig.

The conference was opened by ANAS Vice-President, director of the Institute of Literature after Nizami, Academician Isa Habibbeyli. Stressing the importance of this day, the scientist pointed out that, A.Alakbarov is one of the prominent figures who laid the foundation of the Azerbaijani Archeology and Ethnography of the XX century.

Speaking about held in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the archaeological research of the scientist-ethnographer, I.Habibbeyli stressed the role and work of the scientist in the study of history, culture and art of the autonomous republic.

The Vice-President said that, the book will make a significant contribution to the science of archeology and Azerbaijan will play an important role in studying the rich heritage of the scientist.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Doctor of History sciences, Professor Maisa Rahimova spoke about the life and work of A.Alakperov.

According to her, during the 15 years it has been published more than 30 scientific works of the scientist. M.Rahimova noted that, a prominent scientist has made a lot of innovations in the Archeology and Ethnography of Azerbaijan.

Then Academician Teymur Bunyadov, speaking about the invaluable contribution of the scientist-ethnographer in the development of of national science, noted the special significance of the book, tells the story of his life and work.

At the conference, Doctor of History, Professor Hidayat Jafarov spoke on "Alakparov and research of Khojali", PhD in History Bahlul Ibrahimli on "The Role of A.Alakparov in the study of archaeological monuments of Nakhchivan", Idris Aliyev on "Life and Work A.Alakparov in archival documents".

Acted in the debate of delivered a report from by head the of Department of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, Doctor of historical sciences Safar Ashurov, Chairman of the Trade Union Organization of the Institute, PhD in History Abuzar Alakbarov, Deputy Director of the Institute of History, PhD in History Jabi Bahramov and others highly appreciated the work of the authors in the preparation of the new edition.

In conclusion, A.Alakperov’s granddaughter Nigar Khanum Alakbarova-Seyidzadeh expressed her gratitude to the authors of the book and to the leadership of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.
