Corresponding member of ANAS Farida Mammadova is 80

On August 8, a celebrate historian-scientist, Honored Scientific Figure with “Shohrat” Order, chief department at the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS Farida Jafar gizi Mammadova is 80 years old.

Farida Mammadova was born in Ali-Bayramli city in 1936. Educated at the Azerbaijan State University (present BSU), faculty of history in 1955-1960. Gained PhD degree in 1971, while Doctor of Sciences in 1987. She was elected a corresponding member of ANAS in 2001.

For the first time in Azerbaijan history study, F. Mammadova has studied he social structure and the genesis of feudalism (it’s institutions) in Caucasian Albania – the first historical Azerbaijani state, proven the independency of hereditariness and continuity between rulers, established the territorial boundaries of the state in it’s 1000-year history (5th BC – VIII century) by working out 6 maps, including investigated the emergence of the Apostolic Autocephalous (independent) church of Albania.

F. Mammadova's work on histpry of Azerbaijan Albania, as well as monograph “Political history and historical geography of Caucasian Albania highly appreciated both in the republic and abroad.

Outputs of scientist’s studies were reflected in more than 113 domestic and foreign academic papers. She supervised to a Doctor of Sciences and 20 PhDs.

Awarded the Order “Shohrat”, Honorary Title “Honored Scientific Figure”, and “State Prize” of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
