Tools belonging to the 7 thousand years ago - Neolithic period have been found in cave of Damjili, in the territory of Avey State Reserve, located in Gazakh. As a result of excavations in the area at a depth of 4 meters joint with Japan and domestic archaeologists, this place has been confirmed the ancient habitation once again. Damjili artefacts will be sent to Japan laboratories for approval of the Neolithic period.
Seadat Aliyeva, a director of the reserve, said that, for several years, Japanese specialists, conducting archaeological excavations in the Tovuz, Hajialamkhanli and in other ancient settlements, think that, Tovuz and Gazakh are very closer and tools found here are the more ancient.
"During archaeological excavations in Damjili have enough materials available to science. Our goal is to confirm the area as an ancient habitation, in addition to get material evidences dated back to prior ages of Neolith. During the excavations were able to achieve it", said a Japanese archaeologist Nishiaki Yoshihiro.
Note that the initial excavations carried out in Damjili were completed. Next year, Japanese and domestic archaeologists are going to launch a wide range of reseacrh work.
