Cash hoard referring to the XII century found in Jalilabad

Cash hoard referring to the XII century, was discovered in the ancient settlement near the village of Uzuntepe, Jalilabad region. Treasure, revealed in the course of research, consists of economic jug filled with a large number of copper coins.

In order to study 273 found copper coins were sent to the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography. Coins were subjected to researcher-numismatist, Professor Ali Rajabli. Next, copper coins sent to the Laboratory of Radiochemistry Institute of Radiation Problems of ANAS, were cleaned with chemical methods by PhD in Chemistry Rauf Guliyev and research work carried out on the findings have been completed.

Ancient coins composed of copper dirham and fels dated back to the period Atabay Eldenisids (XII century). According to the surviving coins inscriptions of the ancient copper coin, it was found that, they had been minted in the name of the Seljuk Sultan Arslan Shah (1161-1176). On one side of the dirham was engraved name of the Abbasid Caliph Abul Muzaffer al-Mustanjid (1160-1170), and on the other - part of the 33rd verse of the surah "Tovba" Holy Quran.

The treasure was transferred to the Historical Museum of Jalilabad region.
