Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On September 16, Presidium of ANAS hosted the next regular bureau meeting of ANAS Division of Social Sciences (DSS).

The event bringing together bureau members of the division was opened by acting Academician-Secretary of the DSS corresponding member Nargiz Akhundova, who informed on the issues of agenda.

In advance, semiannual reports of the research institutions of the DSS were discussed. Briefly informing about activities of the division corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova stated that, all research works conducted at the division during a semiannual reporting period have been directed to the independence of Azerbaijan, social-economic, cultural-moral and intellectual development, including social-political stability, protection of national security, active integration of the country to the global world and protection of material-moral values in this process. 

Division of Social Sciences is the largest unit of ANAS. Currently, 9 scientific research institutions and a museum operate attached to it. Division is in charge of 3 Problem Councils of the Republican Scientific Research Organization and Coordination.

It was noted that, in the first half of 2016, structural changes were made to the Institute of Oriental Studies on behalf of Z.Bunyadov, Institute of Philosophy and National Museum of Azerbaijan History, created new departments. The structures of the two newly established institutes - Institute of Science History and Caucasusian Institute, were approved.

During a semiannual reporting period 3 meetings were carried out together with the Department of Humanitarian Sciences. Section meetings were preferred namely the extensive discussion of the documents of national importance and most pressing problems.

In 2016, 43 books (8 abroad), 573 articles (160 abroad) have been published by the associates of division. 10 article by them have released on journals of impact factor.

At the meeting, in connection with the implementation of the proposals of ANAS on the decree of AR President "On the 200th anniversary of the inclusion of German settlements at the South Caucasus" dated 30 August 2016, was performed.

It was noted that, in 2017 marks the 200th anniversary of the inclusion to the South Caucasus of German settlements.

Living a deep mark on the history and culture of the people of Azerbaijan and inclusion this event by UNESCO’s "Program for significant events, anniversaries of eminent persons in 2016-2017" is remarkable.

At the event, the 80th anniversary of corresponding member of ANAS Farida Mammadova, the status of decision execution of the Presidium dated 29 June 2016 on establishment of the Public Relations Department at the scientific institutions of DSS, implementation of the decision on establishment of the Museum of the Science History under the Institute of Science History by Presidium, June 29, 2016, were discussed.

At the event also were issued establishment of Public Relations Department at the Institute of History, and Department of Methodological and Econometric Problems of State Regulation in Education and Economy at the Institute of Economics, approval of new scientific councils of the Caucasian Institute and Science History, making changes in the staff of Foundation of Purchase Commission of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History.

Finally some cadre problems were discussed.
