Institute of History held a meeting with an Uzbek writer

On September 29, ANAS Institute of History named after A.A.Bakikhanov held a meeting with a celebrate writer-publicist of Uzbekistan - Shohrat Salamov (Shohrat Barlas).

At the meeting, director of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov spoke about academic relations of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan and noted the necessity of collaboration.

Informing about creativity of Uzbek writer, Y.Mahmudov stated that Sh.Barlas’s book dubbed “Turkustan and Southern Caucasus in the XIX-XX centuries. Dashnaks: From Fargana to the Karabakh” has been dedicated to the genesis of the Armenian terrorism, which is part of international terrorism, and disclosing of political, ethnic and religious essence of mass crimes committed against Turkic nations and Muslims in the XIX-XX centuries.

Later on, the writer drew attention to the vital measures taken for development of academic ties between two countries. Rooms on behalf of outstanding personalities of Azerbaijan have been commissioned, including with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan were held a number of important measures for the development of relations between the two nations.

Writer-publicist stressed out that Academician Ziya Bunyadov’s book “State of Khorezmshahs” in Uzbek language has gained fame in Uzbekistan.

In closing, Sh.Barlas noted the publication of “Khamsa” by great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi for the first time in Uzbek language, in September this year.
