“Academician Abel Maharramov. Bibliography” book dedicated to the life and activity of well-known intellectual of Azerbaijan, rector of Baku State University (BSU), Honored Scientist with Order "Shohrat" Academician Abel Maharramov, was published.

Bibliographic handbook, publishing under decision of the Presidium and from series "Azerbaijan science and culture figures", compiles articles and photos reflecting skillful rector and Academician Abel Maharramov’s interesting life and achievements.

The publication embraces key points in life, including scientific, educational and public activities of Abel Maharramov, who is in charge at the Baku State University since 1999. BSU rector educated in the Faculty of Chemistry of Azerbaijan State University in 1966-1971, and then entered V.Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1973, full-time post-graduate course in organic chemistry. 

Mr. Abel defended his thesis in Moscow in 1976 and in the same year began for scientific-pedagogical activity in the ASU. He held several post here, including dean of the chemistry faculty. In addition, has taken confident steps in science, defended his doctoral thesis in 1991.

Taking into account his high scientific level of management national leader Heydar Aliyev defined him a rector to the Baku State University on January 11, 1999 and he is ably entrusted with this task. His skills such as using his post for serving people, reform exposure, efficiency and flexibility, have been constantly evaluated by the great leader, who has never mistaken in staff selection. Scientist was awarded numerous prestigious Prizes in the field of science and education.

Scientist adoring his over 40 years to the professional academic life has approved as an outstanding researcher and been author of novelties in the field of basic sciences by his intense and principal innovation searches. Today, in addition to scientific activity, and being in charge as the rector of BSU, Academician has penned tens of weighty monographs and books not only high school students, even for professional researchers.

Under the direct supervision of the scientist were successfully defendend 53 dissertations for Ph.D. and Doctor of Science degree. He is the author of 54 inventions, 19 monographs, 51 textbooks and manuals, more than a hundred feature articles. More than a thousand scientific articles and abstracts academician were published in local and international journals.

Under his authorship and editorship were published more than 10 books on the history of BSU and the socio-political life of the country. Currently Maharramov glorified as one of the prominent representatives of the science of chemistry not only in Azerbaijan, but also in some foreign countries. The results of his studies, obtained in various fields of chemistry, and other scientific achievements attracted the attention of the world scientific community.

Scientific editor of elegantly designed book "Academician Abel Maharramov. Bibliography", which clearly reflects the portrait of the scientist and intellectual, is Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Tofig Nagiyev, and compilers are docents Parvana Ibrahimova and Anzula Amirov.
