Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

November 16, Institute of Literature named after Nizami hosted for international scientific conference “Alishir Nevai and Azerbaijan literature” devoted to the 575th anniversary of great poet Alishir Nevai by joint organization of the same institute and Embassy of Uzbekistan Republic.

Vice-President of ANAS, director of the Institute of Literature Academician Isa Habibbeyli opened the conference, dealt with key features of Uzbek literature and briefed about history of Azerbaijan-Uzbek literary ties. Academician stated that, erecting the monument of Alishir Nevai in Baku is a sample of Azerbaijan-Uzbek cultural-literary relations, which laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Then, Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan Sherzod Fayziyev made speech on literary-cultural ties between Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan.

Academician-Secretary of ANAS Division of Humanities, Academician Teymur Karimli lectured on Nevai’s creativity, and idea essence of poems.

At the event, were listened lectures by chief of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan literary ties department under Institute of Literature, Dr. Philology Almaz Ulvi Binnatova “Pearls from literary treasure of Amir Alishir Nevai”, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Friendship Society PhD in Philology, Assoc. Prof. Gulbahar Ashurova ”A glance at history and Nevai study in the period of independence”, PhD in Philology Akif Baghirov on “Nevai and renaissance”, Dr. Philology Yashar Gasimbeyli on “Alishir Nevai and Uzbek poetry in then XIII-XIV centuries”, PhD in Philology Sirajeddin Haji “Comparative analysis of Nevai’s Treasure of Mysteries” and “Heyrat ul-abrar” poems” .

In closing, new books published by the institute were donated to the guests. In addition, gifts and books were also presented to Academician Isa Habibbeyli on behalf of Uzbekistan Embassy and Dashkend Pedagogical University named after Nizami.
