Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples has organized an international conference on topic “Religious traditions of tolerance in Caucasus and Azerbaijani multiculturalism model” I Baku, December 1.

The religious leaders, representatives of the Russian Orthodox and Georgian Orthodox churches, ambassadors of several countries were attended in the conference.

The meeting was opened by chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Allahshukur Pashazadeh. According to him, the conference serves the prataction of peace in the Caucasus, on the background of the collision that occurred on racial, national, ethnic and other soils in the world. Sheikh-ul-Islam spoke about the work carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev for free and comfortable life of people belonging to different religions in our country, gave the example of the Azerbaijani model of tolerance, said support at the state level of national and religious tolerance.

Then, the State Adviser of the Republic of Azerbaijan on International Affairs, issues of multiculturalism and religion, Academician Kamal Abdullayev read out a message of greetings to President Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the conference.

Then, was demonstrated a video-slide titled "Multicultural values in Azerbaijan".

"Currently, the tolerance in Azerbaijan is at the level of state policy", - said the chairman and stressed that, today there is 169 international and internal conflicts, and are going bloody war in 40 countries. As a result of these conflicts, 60 million people have been banished from their land.Over the past 15 years, a thousand of the 57 thousand terrorist acts perpetrated in the world, have been carried out by Armenians against Azerbaijanis.

President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that, the model of tolerance and multiculturalism of our country is of great interest throughout the world.Stressing that, the relations between state and religion in Azerbaijan are at high level, Alizadeh said that, great leader Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation of religious culture program, tolerance and inter-religious dialogue in our country.

It has been told that, in Azerbaijan where mosques, churches and synagogues are under construction and restored, and also material and spiritual support is given to traditional religious communities, a great job on development of a multicultural way of life on religious and interfaith grounds is done.

The event was announced appeal of Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill and Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II to the participants of the conference.

In conclusion was read appeal of the Supreme Religious Council of Peoples of the Caucasus to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
