Institute of Geology and Geophysics presented the annual report

Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG) of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) reported for its scientific and scientific-organizational activities in 2016. The report was considered at the joint session of the Division of Earth Sciences and the Academic Council of IGG on December 28.

The event, which was chaired by the head of department, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, with an extensive report was delivered by Deputy Director of the Institute for Science, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Dadash Huseynov.

He noted that, in the reporting year celebrated the 25th anniversary of the state independence of Azerbaijan Republic. From the first day of this historic event, and still our country has passed a very fast way of development in the years of independence was signed the "Contract of the Century", held the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline.

Successfully the largest infrastructure projects of the present – "The southern gas corridor" and the international transport corridor "North-South" are implemented. Having noted that, in implementation of these world famous projects the large role is played by geological science of the country, the speaker added that achievements in all spheres of economy, sciences, culture and public life are reached thanks to wisdom and fruitful activities of the National leader Heydar Aliyev and his worthy successor, the President Ilham Aliyev. These nice pages of our history once again prove that the country leaders care for solidarity of the Azerbaijani people and its rich creative potential.

Dadash Huseynov noted that in 2016, 25 scientific-research works on 5 issues were made in IGG, covering 14 topics. A total of 8 completed research projects. Also completed 6 grant projects, research continues on 6 grant projects.

In addition to the foregoing, in the doctoral training institute for doctors of sciences program trained 21 people, according to the training program for doctors of philosophy - 22 people. Today, the scientific establishment is 19 undergraduate and 12 graduate students. Topics their graduation works and theses are determined in accordance with the themes of scientific research conducted in the departments in which they work.

During the year, were published 87 scientific works of employees of the Institute. In addition, scientists have published 38 scientific articles in international journals, 26 of which were published in journals with impact factor, and 12 - in journals indexed in the Thomson Reuters database.

After other appearances and scoring the responses to the questions of the Institute activities in 2016 was highly appreciated.
