35th edition of journal “Nakhchivan” has been released relying on proceedings of international conference “Nakhchivan towers: in history and today”, which held in last year.
First pages of the journal present speech by Vasif Talibov, a chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
There is an article in the journal by president of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh which is entitled "Nakhchivan: time and science” and notes this ancient place as an integral part of Azerbaijan throughout history, also Nakhchivan is to be one of the centers of the civilization and statehood in our country. It was highlighted that mythology and reality related to the event of World storm and Noah's legendary ark testify Nakhchivan is one of the cradles of human civilization.
Chairman of Nakhchivan Division Academician Ismayil Hajiyev’s article dubbed “Nakhchivan towers are essential source for the study of history” states that, tower-type settlements were occurred in Nakhchivan before the III millennium BC and they widely used in subsequent periods. Tower-type settlements were important reference points of people in the middle ages against foreign invaders. The local population created defensive towers for protection. These towers are usually built on natural rocks. The Alinjagala, Oghlangala, Chalkhangala, Berdiqala, Galajyg, Qazancıgala, Vaykhir gala, Nahajir gala etc. can be shown as a sample.
In addition, Naila Valikhanli’s article on "Towers and the city-fortresses in military-political history of Nakhchivan", corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Safarli’s "Alinjagala in epos of Kitabi Dede Gorgud, in history and today”, corresponding member of ANAS Veli Bakshaliyev’s "The ancient fortress cities of Nakhchivan" articles are also included in journal.
