Improve productivity and product quality of tea plantations in Azerbaijan, creating new tea sorts on Lankaran-Astara region's unique soil and climate conditions, and applying them to the farms were set forth as main goal.

It is known that, guided by director of this scientific venture, Professor Farman Guliyev studies are carried out in the direction of collecting tea plant varieties and forms, selecting the valuables, and creating new sorts.

As part of these studies Lankaran Regional Scientific Center of ANAS submitted the State Commission for Testing and Protection of Selection Achievements 4 tea sorts by Professor of Tea branch Lankaran Research Institute of Horiculture and Tea growing, Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Farman Guliyev - "Farmanchay", "Khazar", "Farmanchay chahrai "," Lankaran”.

In the future, the provision of these varieties allows the economy to intensive development of tea-growing in the country.

Note that outputs of F.Guliyev’s studies over such subtropical herbs as tea, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple guava, tangerines, figs, almonds, laurels, olives, kiwi and others is widely applicable in the agriculture, were translated into foreign languages and are included in the curricula of higher education institutions.
